On Tuesday Marc took us on a day trip to a surprise destination. I love adventures and surprises, so I was totally down. As we went through the tunnel and turned a corner, I was delighted to see this colorful little cluster of old brick buildings and brightly painted bungalows. It looked miniature, like something constructed for the set of Thomas the Tank Engine. Bisbee is a town full of history and old world charm, and everyone was really friendly. The highlight of our adventure was going on a mine tour where you get to wear hard hats and go deep into a mine. Marc and I sat on the back of the train and made October Sky references.

Looks like you had a great time! I have always wanted to stay at the little trailer, umm park? hotel they have there. So it that sign accurate...was the climate pretty great?
ReplyDeleteYeah that trailer thing looked pretty cool, but I think the owners were on vacation or something because it was a ghost town. The weather was great! It was high 70s to low 80s. A welcome break from the Phoenix heat.
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you Kristen for those pictures and a vicarious trip to Bisbee. I love Bisbee. I use to live in Tucson and it was one of our favorite get-away destinations. I was just searching for road trip adventure blogs and came upon yours. I see that your adventure has come and gone but I wanted to connect anyway. I'm driving cross country in August. I hope you'll check out my blog about the adventure at http://www.levonnegaddy.com/2011/07/were-going-home.html
ReplyDeleteBisbee is so fun and interesting! The hubs and I have been meaning to do a weekend road trip there for a while now and your pics make me want to more than ever!
