School starts for me on Monday and I am getting more and more antsy. You know that feeling in your stomach you get when you wake up at 5:30 on the first day of school? That simultaneous hunger and nausea? I've been feeling that for the past three days. All this nervousness and excitement has me reminiscing about high school; the outfit I wore on my first day (facepalm), the boys I made out with, the peanut M&Ms I ate for lunch, and all the things I learned later but wish I had known. I guess if I had known those things already there wouldn't be opportunities for growth. Nonetheless, I think I'd like to start a series in continuation of my Girls and Lobsters post, but invite others to submit their writing about their own high school experience, and what they are up to now. I want it to be focused on surviving high school while female (is that catchy enough to be the name of the series?) I don't know if any high school aged girls read my blog, but perhaps it can be an exercise in self reflection for us that can give hope or inspiration to any girls that happen to stumble upon it. So stay tuned. Tomorrow I will post more details.
